Camforge Forging Delivers the Core Strength of Carbide Button Bits

Forged carbide button bit designed for high-performance industrial drilling, produced from heat-treated alloy steel at Camforge USA

When it comes to the toughest drilling environments in the world, performance begins with strength — and strength begins at Camforge.

At our forging facility in Cameron, West Virginia, we manufacture the foundational forged blanks that go on to become Rampp Co.’s precision-engineered carbide button bits. These bits are used across industries from mining and water well drilling to oilfield and construction. But the durability and performance they’re known for? That starts right here, under the hammer at Camforge.

Where Strength Begins: The Camforge Process

Each button bit blank is forged from high-grade alloy steel, heat-treated, and normalized at Camforge to achieve maximum hardness, structural integrity, and resistance to cracking under extreme conditions.

Our process ensures that every forged core:

  • Withstands rotational and percussive force

  • Supports deep-hole and high-impact drilling

  • Is optimized for final machining and tungsten button placement

  • Meets the high standards of both U.S. and international drilling operations

From Forge to Final Form

After the forging process, the blanks are delivered to Rampp Co., our sister company, for precision machining. There, they’re cut, threaded, and fitted with carbide buttons to meet exact drilling specifications.

Together, Camforge and Rampp Co. provide a complete U.S.-based manufacturing pipeline — from raw steel to high-performance carbide tooling.
